Open Enrollment

Open enrollment is your once-a-year chance to pick, switch or renew your health coverage, and the deadlines come fast. Norwood Insurance Group is a family-owned agency in Panama City, FL that helps Floridians through ACA Marketplace and Medicare enrollment, one-on-one. Here are the key dates for the 2027 plan year and what to bring so your enrollment goes smoothly.

Key Open Enrollment Dates at a Glance

  • Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP): October 15 – December 7, 2026
  • ACA Marketplace Open Enrollment: November 1, 2026 – January 15, 2027
    • Enroll by December 15 for coverage starting January 1, 2027
    • Enroll Dec 16 – Jan 15 for coverage starting February 1, 2027
  • Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period: January 1 – March 31, 2027

Medicare Annual Enrollment (October 15 – December 7)

During AEP, people with Medicare can switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan (or back), change Medicare Advantage plans, and join, switch or drop a Part D prescription drug plan. Changes take effect January 1. Plans change their premiums, networks and drug lists every year, so it pays to review your coverage even if you’re happy today. We’ll go over your doctors, prescriptions and budget and compare your options side by side.

ACA Marketplace Open Enrollment (November 1 – January 15)

If you buy your own health insurance, open enrollment is when you can enroll in, renew or change a Marketplace plan for 2027. Many Florida households qualify for financial help that lowers their monthly premium, based on household income and size. Our team will help you update your application, check your savings, and choose a plan that covers your doctors. Missed the deadline? You may still qualify for a Special Enrollment Period after a life event like moving, losing coverage, getting married or having a baby, and we can help you submit the documents.

Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment (January 1 – March 31)

Already in a Medicare Advantage plan and not happy with it? From January 1 to March 31 you can make one change: switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan, or go back to Original Medicare and add a Part D drug plan. We can help you decide whether a change makes sense.

What to Bring to Your Enrollment Appointment
